SACS U/19 D vs PAARL BOYS HIGH
The 4th Team travelled to Paarl on a warm Friday afternoon. SACS batted first and got off to a reasonable start with captain Brandon Davis striking three early boundaries. When he fell we suffered a mini collapse to 31/3 until Sa’eed Fataar and Doulton Pawley steadied he ship. The put on 81 runs for the fourth wicket. Fataar eventually fell for 23 runs while Pawley continued to strike the ball cleanly for the most part. He ended on 65 not out as we posted a respectable 128/4 in our 20 overs.
Playing out in Paarl it seems fitting use a rugby analogy to describe the Boishaai reply. They got off to a flying start as their burly skipped posted the SACS bowlers to all parts of the ground. After 9 overs the hosts were 85/0 and seemingly cruising to a comfortable win. When spinner Taahir Sulaiman removed the danger man though Boishaai collapsed like a pack of cards. He got two wickets in an over and when Pawley picked up the third in the next overs they were 90/3 after 11 overs. A mini partnership saw them edge closer to the SACS score before the introduction of our second spinner Bevan Alperstein removed that threat. He struck first ball with a caught and bowled effort. Alperstein and Kai Praschma blowed well in tandem to restrict Boishaai to bowl Boishaai out for 121. Alperstein endeing with 2/6 in his three overs and Sulaiman 2/24 in his four.
SACS won an exciting match by seven runs. Doulton Pawley was man of the match credit to the fielders who took four vital catches (no drops) and to the spinners who turned the game in our favour.
SACS win by 7 RUNS.
