SACS U/19 B vs PAARL BOYS HIGH

A windy Saturday saw the 2nd team boys playing in a tough and exiting game against Paarl Boys 2nd team in a 50 over game.

Captain Ross Letcher won the toss and put Paarl in to bat first. A really strong wind made bowling difficult but the boys did a good job and restricted Paarl Boys to 218-9 in their 50 overs.

Dylan Fourie was the top wicket taker with fixtures of 3-40 followed by Athic Fayker with 2-17. Rihaz Fredericks, Liam Schrickker, Tatenda Shuttleworth-Richardson and Alister Kretzschmar all took one stick.

With overcast conditions and the possibility of rain we went in to bat. The first wicket off Schrickker (7) come early and soon after that Luke McMeeking (19) too. A good partnership of 68 between Ian Patterson (33) and Kai Greig (45) put us in a good position.

After the wicket off Patterson Paarl took 3 quick wickets and the pressure was back on us. Dean Greeff and Kretzschmar (14) steadied the ship and got us back on track. Greeff played a really good innings and batted to the end for his 40.

An exciting last 3 overs saw the rain coming down on the De Villiers field and the two teams desperately searching for the win. Greeff was supported at the end with Fayker (13) and Fourie (6).

The last over SACS needed 10 to win, Greeff hit the ball for four and the game where tied with 2 balls remaining. Unfortunately Greeff was lbw and SACS ended up with 218-10 in 19.4 overs. Thus tied the Game with Paarl Boys.

A great game of cricket gave the boys a good start to the term with each player in the team making a contribution.

 Result:

SACS tied the game with Paarl Boys High.
