SACS U/15 A vs PAARL BOYS HIGH
Toss: Won by Boishaai, who chose to bowl first.
A cloudy, rainy and windy day was what awaited these two teams on Saturday 14 October. Daniel Smith and Judd Raichman opened the innings and were batting very well together when Smith walked across his wickets to be bowled for 31, ending their 69-run partnership. He was soon followed by fellow Western Province team mate Kai Curran, for 4. Raichman was then joined by tour bully, Oscar Welsh. Welsh bludgeoned and stroked his way to 51 when a flurry of wickets threatened to derail the good start made by the SACS boys. The fighting spirit of this team had the final say however and Keenan Dalwai (25), Daniel Opperman (20*) and a tail wag by number 11 Luka Botha ensured the team reached 215.
Rain clouds threatened the entire day but the strong winds seemed to keep that away. Boishaai’s innings began with a few edges finding the boundary instead of hands. Keenan Dalwai made a break in the second over trapping the one opener LBW for a duck. After that, steady break-throughs and strangling bowling by Dalwai, Curran, Anda Dilima and Matty Klusener saw Paarl reeling on 137/8. With victory in our sights, the heavens opened and Cape Town’s much-needed rain decended. After waiting a while, it seemed as if the rain would not be clearing up so the game was called.
SACS à 215 all out (D. Smith 31, J. Raichman 25, O. Welsh 51, K. Dalwai 25, D. Opperman 20*)
Paarl Boys’ High à 137/8 (A. Dilima 1/32 in 8 overs; K. Dalwai 2/10 in 7 overs including 3 maidens; K. Curran 2/11 in 6 overs; M. Klusener 2/36 in 9 overs)
SACS drew the match as a result of rain.
