SACS U/14 B vs PAARL BOYS HIGH
The U14B team welcomed Paarl Boys’ High School to the Memorial Field on Friday 13 October for a T20 blast. Despite not being able to control the traffic and arriving 45 minutes late, Boishaai controlled the toss and elected to bat first.SACS got off to a positive start with the ball, with J. Kreymborg taking an early wicket.
Thereafter, first-change bowler, M. Mackenzie—fresh from U/14A duties—picked up three sticks himself, ending with outstanding figures of 3 for 7 in his four allotted overs. Swinging the ball both ways, he was virtually unplayable as his economy rate of 1,75 suggests. Boishaai had slumped to 25/4 in 8 overs, but then managed to build a partnership, clawing themselves back into the game. Unfortunately, SACS took the pedal off the gas, and some sloppy fielding allowed Boishaai to end on 92/4 after their 20 overs.
In reply, ten runs came off the first Boishaai over, and from then onward, SACS was always in control of the run chase. Opening bat, R. Salie, played well for his 16 before being adjudged LBW. Star of the show, however, was wicket-keeper-batsman D. Knott, who was brimming was confidence after taking three good catches behind the stumps. He controlled the game beautifully, scoring rapidly and acting maturely as the senior partner in each of the five partnerships in which he found himself. Knott ended off on 40*, scoring six boundaries. The winning runs were knocked off in style by M. Parsons with a boundary in the 18th over, securing SACS a pleasing 5 wicket victory.
SACS win by 5 wickets
