SACS U14 A vs PAARL BOYS HIGH SCHOOL
Sacs U/14 A travelled to Paarl on Saturday and were welcomed with cool and windy conditions, very different to what one normally expects in the Boland this time of year. Captain, Thomas Newby won the toss and had no hesitation in putting the hosts into bat first. The pitch was a green one and with cloudy overhead conditions, would make for an interesting first session with Levitt and Strydom at rthe helm of the new ball.
The Paarl Boys High innings got off to the worst possible start with their danger man being run out second ball of the morning without facing a delivery. Matters soon got worse for the Paarl Boys side as Levitt removed Batsmen 3 and 4 in consecutive balls for zero, with both players leaving length ball and seeing the off stump rattled. This left Paarl Boys realing at 1-3 after the first over.
Levitt in partnership with Strydom made life hard for the Paarl Boys batsmen looking to make further inroads. However, the Paarl Boys batsmen were equal to the task and a partnership soon developed. Thereafter, Alperstein was introduced into the attack and struck in his first over with a supurb stumping by wicket-keeper Kaden Solomons. Paarl Boys struggled to put partnerships together and slumped to 37 for 6 after 16 overs. The Paarl Boys high players struggled to contain the spin generated by Newby, Alperstein and Emeran and were left realing at 58 for 8 after 21 overs before Levitt returned to finish off the Paarl Boys High innings. Leviit again, ending with figures of 4 for 23 in his alotted 7 overs.
In reply Paarl Boys High came out strong fancing their bowlers on a difficult wicket. The first to fall was Cowen, pulling a short delievery to mid-wicket for 1 run. This then brought levitt to the crease and both Newby and Levitt fell in quick succession, leaving SACS 12 for 3 after 6 overs. A Valiant and mature effort by both Kaden Solomons and James Royden-Turner saw SACS get over the line comfortably earning SACS a memorable 7-wicket victory in the 21st over. Solomons and Royden-Turner ended on 21* and 31* not out respectively.
